Over Sixties Club
As we enter the new Millennium , our thoughts go back to when we were young and glory in what we have done and achieved, our pitfalls and our victories, and even now we can still come up smiling in the knowledge that we have lived our life and fashioned it to the best of our abilities, we adopted this, because we only pass through this life once.
So, if there is any kindness we can show, or any good thing we can do, let us do it now, let us not deter from it or neglect it, for we shall not pass this way again.
The Over 60's Club was founded in the early 80's, by people like Mr Sizer and other public spirited people whose names are too numerous to mention, and whose future planning and initiative paved the way for the success of the venture.
To these people must go the credit and our eternal thanks for its continued success.
When we use the word "OVER" we really mean to interpret it by "ONE VERY EXCITING RETIREMENT" This has only been achieved by Community Spirit, pulling together and bearing in mind our "Duties to our fellow men."
The Over 60's is a joyous release from the everyday boredom brought about by the ageing process (ANNO DOMINI).
Our activities include social afternoons, with games i.e. Dominoes, Whist, Scrabble and the ever popular Bingo Session, and last but not least "A CUPPA."
We also have a trading table plentiously donated too, with a special thank you to all members and to "Cab Tacey" for his generous supply of fresh vegies, always a best seller.
To add to all this we have Dinners, Lunches, and Festive Fare at Xmas, all free to regular attending members. We also have outings to a multitude of places, again free to regular attending members. Thus enjoying our Retirement.
The stimulation we get from all these activities gives each and every one great satisfaction, and helps keep us agile in Mind and Body and Spirit.
We may be getting older, but we still enjoy life to the full even into our Twilight Years and then some!
To all people over 60 and not yet members, we cordially invite you to join us and thus swell our ranks as OUR CONCERN IS YOUR CONCERN.
