Organisation and Aims
Our group was formed in January 2005, and aims to enable members gain a better understanding of the historical, social, moral, and practical aspects relating to both local and other areas, in a friendly and informal setting.

A lecture on Industrial Architecture had been arranged to replace the first week of a course that had been cancelled by the WEA, as no replacement had been organised by the WEA for that evening, or the following week.
38 people attended this lecture and an open discussion took place about the official formation of the Study Group, which has been operating informally for some time. Activities of this informal group have included field trips, and 2 photographic exhibitions in 1999 and 2000.

Martin Chapman is our chairman, Avril Smith treasurer, and Chris Larking, secretary.

There is no membership fee and the charge for evening lectures is £3.00 per session, and £5.00 for afternoon talks, which includes refreshments. Many members choose to pay for a whole series of lectures, but others prefer to pay on each separate occasion. Apart from a register of attendance, there are no forms to complete.
